The Soul is Eternal

Experience of time arises only where there is consciousness of eternity.

Our awareness of the impermanence of worldly existence presupposes an inborn understanding of what impermanence means: that which is not permanent. We must know permanence in order to judge something as impermanent.

Therefore, we cannot recognize impermanence in the world without at once being intimately familiar with permanence. But if everything of the world is inpermanent, then the only source of our awareness of permanence must be not in the world but within ourselves, that is in the soul.

The soul of man must be eternal, for a temporal consciousness is not capable of temporal experience.

Where there is change, there must also be a constant against which change is perceived and conceived.
