I was an Ink sitting in my Inkhood at the point of origin. I had no time, and place was beneath me. Desire arose in my heart to see myself, and the heart spun so fast that my Inkhood spilled out into time with a centrifugal force so that my I could trace out my unspoken qualities. This world is nothing but the play of Ink.
They see the word; I see the Ink. Put the mind in the daycare of this world and come with me to the space of the heart. Let me tell you of the ineffable mystery of the path: I was a point among many others on the circumference. The center called me, and I began my journey along the radius. When I arrived at the center, who did I see? Listen attentively! I saw I Myself welcoming myself. I was welcomed by myself, and the circle was no more, nor the radii.
The more I say the more I hide the meaning; isn’t that why liars explain themselves too much! Too many words, too many books and lectures about the way of the heart, and sleepwalkers are holding a map to a treasure that’s under their feet.
The lovers, caressed by the scent of the beloved, burn their books and maps! A longing heart is their guide. The blind mind missteps; the heart sees, then smiles and leaps. The pebbles sink to the bottom and watch the river dance forward, as the mind is baffled by the dance of the heart of the lover.
Darkness thought it is noble, so it spread out to make everything like itself. But this is one man’s story. In this, another saw light’s compassion to integrate its own negation.
Light should be bright enough to illuminate the script but not too bright to blind the eyes, the ink thin enough to reveal the word. Things reveal themselves when their principle conceals itself. To see the world, don’t stare into the sun. And when you see the sun, the world will melt in its light. Coincident with any revelation there’s a concealment.
The opposites hold each other’s principles, the dark spot in the white half, the white spot in the dark half. To say yes is to say no.
The Absolute, the Godhead: Rumi says “It is the coincidence of the opposites,” and Eugen Fink says of it “It is the synthetic unity of antithetic determinations.” What seers!
